Students have now learned about Canada’s road to nationhood and political independence from Britain after WWI. Students will now examine the internal challenges facing Canada’s population, in particular the role of women and workers and their demand for a better place within Canada, the effects of PTSD on returning soldiers, Spanish influenza, the role of the Canadian Legion, Veteran’s Affairs and the Royal Montreal Regiment’s (RMR) role in the community after the War.
Teacher to split the class into teams of 2-3 and assign each group a topic. See list below. Teams will research and present to the class in a Prezi or Power Point presentation their findings. Students will fill in a fact sheet as they listen to the presentations and will use their answers for a reflective essay. See student handout for full details.
