Think Like a Historian:  Press Review of the Covid-19 Pandemic

When studying history, do you ever think “how will historians of the future talk about what’s happening today?” We are living in a historical moment. The Covid-19 pandemic is one of the worst pandemics in recent history and it has had wide-sweeping social and economic consequences both here in Quebec and around the world.

This activity helps students think critically and historically about the pandemic. Designed for high schools students, whether they are in or out of school, it asks them to create a press review. Through brainstorming keywords, analyzing articles and summarizing their findings, students will be able to draw a clear picture of the causes and consequences of the pandemic and the ways it is portrayed in the press.
