Volunteering to fight

Often when we talk about Quebec and either of the world wars, the subject of conscription and the subsequent crisis comes to mind. But did you know that, like Louis-Philippe LeBlanc, thousands of Quebeckers volunteered to fight in both world wars? There were actually over 76,000 francophones that volunteered during WWI. We have a tonne of activities and resources all about Quebec and WWI. You can check them out here:

Je Me Souviens (JMS) – a Canada Company education program – provides free teaching materials to supplement the new Quebec history curriculum. JMS helps students have a greater knowledge of Quebec’s role in military conflicts throughout the last 100+ years, and ultimately to help them understand the long-term impacts of war upon all facets of our peaceful society.
