On March 12, 2024, our Content Manager Julien Lehoux was at the Société Historique de Montréal to record a new episode of their program Notre Histoire en tête, hosted by historian Mathieu Trépanier. Broadcast on Radio VM every Tuesday morning at 9 a.m., the show is also available on the Society’s YouTube and Soundcloud channels!

For the occasion, Julien presented a brief history of the various Montreal regiments that call the city home. From their military involvement over the centuries to the establishment of their armouries, these regiments hold a strong heritage that has left its mark on Montreal’s identity! We invite you to find out more, by viewing the program below.

The Canadian Army in Montreal: Troops and Bricks

This presentation is part of a larger project to write short articles on each of Montreal’s militia units: The Canadian Army in Montreal: Troops and Bricks. During the summer of 2023, the Je me souviens team had the chance to visit several of the regimental armouries and museums, thanks to our partners. The result is the publication of the first three articles on three of Montreal’s six regiments: the Régiment de Maisonneuve, the Royal Montreal Regiment and the Fusiliers Mont-Royal.
