Think Like a Historian:  Canada in a Time of Crisis

When studying history, do you ever think “how will historians of the future talk about what’s happening today?” We are living in a historical moment. The Covid-19 pandemic is one of the worst pandemics in recent history and it has had wide-sweeping social and economic consequences both here in Quebec and around the world.

This activity helps students view the pandemic through a comparative historical lens. Focusing on government response and intervention in two key historical periods, it helps students gain a better understanding both of past crises and of the current crisis. The activity was designed for high school students, either in school or out of school, and it will allow them to review important aspects of the Grade 10 curriculum.
